Motor over to Marina Bay Sands on a bumboat
The new water taxi service may not be the most glamorous way to get to the Marina Bay Sands, but it may just be the most efficient
It costs just S$4 to grab a bumboat from Merlion Park to Marina Bay Sands (MBS).
The Integrated Resort (IR) is the latest destination on the water taxi route operated by Singapore River Cruise.
While it may appear costly -- four bucks for a 10-minute journey -- it's a viable option when parking at the casino will cost you a minimum of S$6 for the first hour, and the water taxi option also means you get to bypass the snaking taxi queues.
The launch of the new route comes ahead of the opening of the bayfront Crystal Pavilions later this week. One pavilion will house an ultra-luxe Louis Vuitton store, and the other will house international night clubs, Pangaea and Avalon.
Avalon will open on September 16, the Louis Vuitton Island Maison on September 18, and Pangaea on September 22.
"The water taxi arrives to us at a perfect timing," says John Postle, executive director of The Shoppes at MBS in a report by Today. "The opening of the Crystal Pavilions for us symbolizes the final opening component of Marina Bay Sands. We're very grateful that the opportunity for our patrons to arrive via water taxi just means there is another easy mode of transport available to them."
The Singapore River Cruise operates every 15 minutes from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. and docks at various points along the Singapore River.
Another cruise operator Duck & Hippo will also be operating a ride near the Sands Expo and Convention Centre.
Visitors arriving via the Singapore River Cruise operation will be dropped off at the North Jetty where the ArtScience Museum is located.
