Singapore's best ice cream parlors
Singapore's best ice cream parlors -- Recommended: Udders
Despite being a wildly successful home-grown ice cream chain, Udders manages to maintain an artisanal attitude.
A popular hangout for the young and hungry, Udders has become a household name, renowned for ice cream workshops and catering.
The menu is divided into three categories: Liqueur, Asian-inspired and Cosmopolitan flavors.
The alcohol-flavored choices are legendary.
Rum raisin packs the biggest punch. Slightly more delicate choices include lychee martini, and bourbon-infused Bailey’s & Bourbon.
For durian lovers there’s a D24 option made from fresh D24 durian, with specks of fruity flesh. Udders has also rolled out a Mao Shan Wang durian ice cream -- celebrating the king of durians. Its bitter, sweet, pungent mouthful will appeal to the Singaporean in you.

If you're craving brandied figs and honey, cherry brandy and ginger crumble, all in one cool hand-churned scoop, this is your place.
Best Eats judge Shermay Lee of Shermay’s Cooking School likes the honey-flavored ice cream with IBC root beer.
“They said it would be the best root beer ever, and I think they're right," she says. "For parties, I order the Chendol ice cream then serve fresh cendol, cubed chin chow (grass jelly) and boiled red beans for a modern twist on a traditional dessert.”
The Daily Scoop also encourages eaters to enjoy its scoops with free bites such as homemade brownies.

Singapore's best ice cream parlors -- The Winner: Tom's Palette
By using only cream, milk, eggs and sugar in its from-scratch ice cream, Tom’s Palette has become a strictly ice cream version of Willy Wonka’s factory.
Fans line up for wild creations, such as chocolate stout, salted egg yolk and onion, ice cream made from popping candy (melt ‘n’ sizzle), Chinese herbal fruit (luo han guo) and floral tea (chrysanthemum).
All flavors are produced in Tom's tiny shop space at Shaw Leisure Gallery, where a growing cult following squeezes in for the monthly launch of new flavors.
What keeps Tom's charming is the "mom and pop" concept. Throw some flavor ideas at the staff, let them work out the magic in their laboratory and you may just play a part in creating another flavor to add to the palette.
