Art in Xintiandi "takes off" -- will you be on board?

Xintiandi's offerings are rarely inexpensive let alone free, but in the case of its “Soaring to a New Height” competition, the district is making an exception, putting free round-trip tickets to Hong Kong on the line.
Part of Xintiandi's Living Large campaign, whose stated aim is to engender among citizens of Shanghai an "appreciation of the all things small and large in our lives," the “Soaring to a New Height” plane design competition offers the city's creatives a new, and very public, platform for expression.
Slightly more interesting than a theme of "Better City, Better Life" if you're a budding artist, advancing as far as even the public voting round could provide valuable exposure.
The rules of the competition are simple:
- Illustrate your idea of “flying through life,” then create a three-dimensional art installation that visually conveys these impressions
- A “plane” is the required basic design platform
What you’ll win:
- Exposure: The winning pieces will be displayed in Xintiandi from October 10-23, with the public voting for its favorites
- Tickets: The winner will receive two round-trip tickets from Shanghai to Hong Kong
