Boxing Cat Brewery
Go ahead, grab a seat and enjoy a pint and some of the best cornbread in the city.

As the only serious microbrewery on Shanghai's wine-centric nightlife scene, Boxing Cat Brewery packs a punch for the lovers of lager, with a rotation of four locally-brewed beers on tap. Although there's sometimes a shortage of brews (they couldn't quite meet demand when they first opened), almost any of the beers on tap are worth an order. We recommend the bitter, crisp Standing 8 Pilsner, and the pale, malty Wild Mild (a gold medalist at the Great American Beer Fest).

Housed in a restored three-story villa in the former French Concession -- as all good venues in Shanghai are, Boxing Cat has quickly become a favorite for its summer barbecues as well as the foosball and billiards room on the third floor.

The laid-back atmosphere, plus a menu of southern comfort food keeps regulars coming back to Boxing Cat Brewery for more.
