A joint collaboration between Korean education company YBM and Turner Broadcasting, CNN the Biz is a professional meeting/study space that can be used for job interviews, in-house training, workshops and study groups.
The venue offers different types of professional meeting rooms for rental, from individual cubbies to conference rooms with a maximum occupancy of 100 people.
Kia Motors recently conducted in-house training at CNN the Biz, and Lotte Insurance and Seoul Semiconductor Inc also held job interviews on site.
"It was difficult to find a place that can hold up to 50 people but the spacious waiting room and soundproofing system helped us conduct our interview in a quiet environment," said Jiyoon Kim, HR director of Seoul Semiconductor Inc.
Patrons can freely browse and borrow books on various subjects including literature, arts and foreign languages. Users also get access to high-speed wireless internet, and can rent laptops, use scanners, fax machines and printers.
Free snacks and 40 different kinds of drinks are available, and CNN plays on large LCD screens at all times.
Due to its official affiliation with YBM, CNN the Biz also provides special services including English-language interviews, TOEIC speaking practice, language assessment and textbook distribution, which has proven massively popular among young people getting ready to enter the Korean job market, which places a great deal of weight on English proficiency.
Rental cost is ₩5,000 for two hours and an additional ₩1,250 for every subsequent half-hour. Don’t forget your student ID for a student discount.
CNN the Biz can be found only in Korea. The six branches are located in Jongno, Gangnam, Hongdae, Sinchon, Seolleung and Kondae.
