Silent Noise: Goa's iconic headphone party comes to Mumbai

Mehboob Studios is the perfect location
Silent Noise
"A mass of people dancing, jumping and head-bobbing at different speeds as three DJs stood in an elevated console pumping their fists...and the entire place was virtually silent," reports Rayna Jhaveri.

Tonight, December 16, Mumbai will play host to a Silent Noise party at Mehboob Studios, Bandra's active filming location just off the Sea Link.

These massive, versatile studios have opened up to regular Mumbaikars in the last year, serving as the venue for Anish Kapoor's memorable art exhibition, the popular monthly "Live From The Console" music sessions at the studio's recording theater, the setting for Mumbai's first walk-in literary fest and Kiehl's warehouse-style launch party, to name a few.

And now Mehboob will also be the venue for a Silent Noise party -- an outdoor, noise-less dance fest that was first popularized in India in Goa, with revelers connected to their DJ of choice via headphones.

On the decks this Friday are DJs Nasha, Justin Mason and Dan Booth.

Goa shares with Mumbai an annoying noise pollution law that requires all open-air venues to shut down by 10:30 p.m., and clubs outside five-star hotels by 1:30 a.m. This party is a creative solution with a lighter environmental impact.
