Old Mumbai Bicycle Tour: See heritage Mumbai on a bike
The Woodside Inn is offering a tour of some old Mumbai heritage sites from the comfort, or not, of a saddle
Woodside Inn, a cozy café and restaurant in Colaba, offers weekly bicycle tours of old Mumbai in an attempt to educate people about the city's heritage and of course to work up an appetite for later. The tour takes you through Colaba, Fort, Kala Ghoda, Ballard Estate, CST and Nariman Point and concludes with a well earned breakfast.
Pankil Shah, co-owner of Woodside, tells us how a café decided to get into the business of tours.
"Essentially we are trying to do something different. Woodside Inn is in a heritage building, the heritage aspect is our theme and we wanted to showcase the fascinating history of the area surrounding Woodside. We chose bicycles because when you are in car you tend to miss things around you, but a bicycle allows you to cover distance and see the intricacies of the architecture."
The tour costs Rs 1,350 per person and includes a tour conductor, a
bicycle, refreshments at the Irani café and breakfast at Woodside Inn.
The Old Mumbai Bicycle Tour takes place on Sunday from 7:00am to 10:30am but you have to call in advance and reserve a spot
