The Farmers' Market: Season 2

The Farmers' Market: Season 2

Mumbai's first organic produce market is starting its Sunday special again -- with a couple new twists and turns

That looks good, the cake in the middle, you know which one I'm talking about!

Organizers of The Farmers' Market in Mumbai sound like such happy, sunshine people. At least that's how I imagine Conscious Food founder Kavita Mukhi and her team to be -- with all the good they do.

This season, besides being able to buy fresh, organically certified, fruits and vegetables directly from Mumbai farmers every Sunday, there's also earth-friendly trade, workshops for kids, live music and a natural cafe.

"The farmers are as excited as we are and we hope you are too," reads the sweet, sincere Facebook invite to the launch of the second edition of Mumbai's only organic produce market on October 3. "Sponsor a stall, bring a friend, tell as many as you can. This market is yours!"

The first Sunday market will take place at the original venue (Nilgiri Garden, opposite Amarsons on Linking Road in Bandra) and then rotate around town every Sunday till April 24.

Nilgiri is a tiny garden so I'm wondering if they're being a little too kind in inviting anyone to "bring their talent, be it music, dance, comedy or cooking (with organic ingredients)."

Actually the cooking sounds good. Last time, the few tables offering homemade baked goods were wiped out leading to the founding of a pop-up organic cafe for this season.

The timings, too, have changed from 11am to 6pm, starting and closing one hour later than last year.
