How to disguise vodka the Indian way

Pick up a pack of Smirnoff masala -- a stomach-churning drink mix of vodka, lemonade, green chillies and chaat masala

Smirnoff Masala MarkeVodka's Indian avatar is here. The Smirnoff Masala Marke pack, recently unleashed on the Indian market, includes a 750-milliliter bottle of triple-distilled Smirnoff vodka with a 600-milliliter bottle of lemonade and a 50-gram sachet of "chatpata" chaat masala.

The concoction mimics a traditional Indian nimbu-paani lemonade that contains a dash of pungent chaat masala (a spice mix of dried mango powder, black salt, black pepper, asafoetida and chili powder) -- meant to be a cooling potion for Indian summers. But not if you take its mocktail virginity away with some relatively cheap vodka.

Here's how: Pour 45 milliliters of Smirnoff vodka over ice. Fill almost to the top with Smirnoff lemonade and stir in half a teaspoon of Smirnoff chaat masala. To garnish, add lemon wedges, whole green chilies, top up with soda and see if you can stomach it.

Smirnoff Masala Marke costs between Rs 390 to Rs 865 across India.
