Nine Days Photography: Old school Hong Kong camera shop

A Hong Kong camera shop topped the blog roll on Silly Thing founder and Hong Kong trendster TK's personal blog today. (Find out more about TK on our Hong Kong Hot List, he's no. 20)

Nine Days Photography, which is owned by a friend of TK's, just reopened at their bigger and better location in Tsim Sha Tsui. According to TK's blog, the new Nine Days has a lot of "interesting" lenses and the shop has a Japanese feel to it.

Vintage cameras at Ng Wai's Sham Shui Po stall.Seeing TK's post made us think of another Hong Kong camera shop that we love. That's the Sham Shui Po vintage camera stall owned by photography treasure-hunter Ng Wai.

Ng sells everything from cheap 35mm point-and-shooters to sought-after rangefinders. Many of Ng's cameras are broken -- some of his most frequent customers are African traders who fill up plastic bags with cameras that they take back home to fix and resell. But Ng has some gems too, such as a 50-year-old Canon SLR crowned by a 70-year-old flashbulb.
