Nobuyuki "Nobu" Matsuhisa -- that Japanese chef famous for feeding Hollywood stars his contemporary Japanese food -- will be in Hong Kong on December 2 to celebrate the third birthday of NOBU, the Hong Kong arm of his restaurant empire. See our interview with Matsuhisa in Tokyo.

For the anniversary event, diners get a dose of his culinary star power with an eight-course omakase dinner supervised (but not cooked) by Matsuhisa himself, at HK$1,688 per person (plus 10 percent service charge).

The festivities will kick off with a sake barrel-breaking ceremony, a NOBU restaurant tradition. The celebrity chef will personally hand out the floral Hokusetsu sake in wooden masu cups. Guests get to take the wooden cups home as a souvenir.

Nobu Hong Kong, which was the chef’s first Chinese outpost, was snubbed by the Michelin Guide but in this year's Miele Guide it ranked 15th among Asia's best restaurants.
