Author: Dan Shapiro
New York-born, New Jersey-bred, Boston-trained and San Francisco-tested, Dan Shapiro landed in China in 2006 with the intention of exploring the nation's underbelly for six months before returning to the U.S. to compose an album of epic rock ballads. After a brief stint in the wilderness of Kaifeng, Shapiro arrived in Shanghai in early 2007, and immediately gravitated towards the city's developing rock scene, quickly becoming a recognizable figure as a writer, promoter and front man for local rock outfits The Fever Machine and The Rogue Transmission.
Whether he's informing the world about China's burgeoning underground rock scene in publications like City Weekend, RAVE, Time Out New York or CNNGo, assembling the masses for free beer at his award winning "Get in the Van" rock shows or delivering one of his signature performances that Blurt Magazine has described as "impassioned, tight, aggressive and stirring," Dan Shapiro is an ambassador for the city and Shanghai's leading nightlife guru.
