Get your body shining for the office Christmas party with these fancy scrubs, wraps, slathers and soaks

Tis the season for parties, which means looking hot when you squeeze into that strapless mini to impress the office cutie at this year’s Christmas shindig.

To help you prepare, here are five delicious-sounding Bangkok spa treatments made with ingredients we’re more accustomed to ingesting than rubbing over our bodies.

Chocoholics Anonymous

It’s a tragic fact of life that eating too much chocolate can pack on the pounds. But when applied to our bodies, this calorie-free spa treatment can actually prevent aging by increasing the blood circulation and firming up your skin.

The Shangri-La's Chi Spa has a package dubbed "Chocoholics Anonymous" that includes a special chocolate body scrub they promise is rich in anti-aging properties, followed by a full body massage that will recharge your batteries.

If all that sweetness is too tempting, not to worry. You also get to walk away with a box of chocolates from the hotel's new Chocolate Boutique.

Treatment time: Two hours
Price: 3,900 baht
Contact: Chi Spa at Shangri-La. 89 Soi Wat Suan Plu, New Road. Tel: +66 (0)2 236 7777

Wasabi Body Wrap

Make like a piece of sushi at the Amari Watergate Bangkok's Sivara Spa and let them wrap you in a mixture of wasabi and herbs.

The treatment begins with a deep cleansing scrub, followed with the wasabi wrap. Wasabi is said to have firming and anti-oxidant properties, while also promoting circulation.

Some even say wasabi has hangover-curing abilities, thanks to its detoxifying properties, so you may want to save this one till the morning after that Christmas party.

Treatment time: 90 minutes
Price: 3,300 baht

Green tea

Green Tea Spa Treatment

Green tea is renowned for its skin-healing and detoxifying properties -- even when you're spreading it on your skin.

Bangkok's Dahra Spa offers a green tea scrub and wrap that eliminates free radicals and helps to reactivate skin cells and improve the condition of upper layer skin.

After the scrub and wrap, the treatment ends with a milk and aromatherapy massage.

Treatment time: Two hours and 30 minutes
Price: 3,500 baht

Mango Champagne Treatment

Like most of the treatments on this list, Divana's Mango Champagne package promises to deliver age-defying and renewing results.

It all starts with a detoxifying sea salt foot soak, before the body is slathered in a chamomile tea and fresh milk concoction that is said to improve circulation. Next up is a turmeric body scrub with fresh tangerine, before the therapist applies the fresh mango and collagen body rub.

The fruit-filled treatment ends with a bottle of champagne poured all over your body, straight from the bottle, to close up those refreshed pores and tighten up the skin.

Treatment time: 210 minutes
Price: 5,850 baht

Coffee beans

Coffee Scrub

Back in the 1990s, Britain's Duchess Sarah Ferguson made headlines for saying that every morning she took her leftover coffee grounds into the shower for a scrub down, swearing it reduced the signs of cellulite.

Clearly she was on to something, as spas around the world now offer different forms of coffee scrubs, famed for their firming and detoxifying properties. This includes Bangkok's Four Season’s Hotel spa.

But have no fear, spa staff aren't grabbing the morning grounds from the breakfast buffet. This aromatic scrub is made from locally grown coffee beans and natural volcanic pumice.

Fresh carrots blended in a jelly are then rubbed on the body to complete the experience.

Treatment time: 60 minutes
Price: 2,500 baht

Corn on the cob

Corn Cob Scrub

Bangkok's Thann Sanctuary is famous for its uniquely Thai products. But corn on the cob? Not your quintessential Thai ingredient, like lemongrass, but still local none-the-less.

A 15-minute steam prepares the skin for Thann's cream-based scrub, which is made of corn cobs, tamarind and apricot kernels. The scrub helps shed dead skin cells to reveal a smoother and brighter complexion, say therapists.

You're not done there. A final moisturizer is applied, made with rice bran and olive body oil for normal to dry skin or rice extracts for normal to oily skin.
