David Thompson's nahm will be based in the Metropolitan Bangkok, home to the popular Cy'an Mediterranean restaurant.

It’s official: David Thompson, the Australian-born chef of world famous Michelin-starred nahm at The Halkin in London, will open his first restaurant in Bangkok in July. As we mentioned in a recent article on foreign chefs bringing Thai food to Bangkok, Thompson’s new Thai venture, also called nahm, will be set in The Metropolitan on South Sathorn Road.

More details on the restaurant were released this week. According to website Breakingtravelnews.com, it will have a lighter, more easygoing feel to its sister restaurant in London. The cuisine will reflect the food eaten in Thai homes -- relaxed, generous and authentic -- while the restaurant will be designed by Japanese interior architect, Koichiro Ikebuchi, “defined by his sensitive approach to cultural authenticity.”

Open for lunch and dinner seven days a week, nahm will feature a private dining room and terrace dining. Set menus will be priced at 1,800 baht per person and key dishes will include pla chorn curry, made with the ugly but delicious snake head fish.
