White truffles are only available a few months of the year, almost exclusively from one part of Italy.

A number of Bangkok Italian restaurants are offering special menus as part of white truffle season, which started in October and lasts till January. Here's the pick of the bunch.

Biscotti

The Four Seasons Bangkok’s Italian eatery, Biscotti, is cooking up special dishes made with luxurious white Alba truffles from Piedmont and black truffles from Tuscany until November 30.

These include seared foie gras with white truffle foam, Hokkaido scallops with pencil asparagus and black truffle, morel mushroom crusted Angus tenderloin with black truffle sauce. Prices range from 1,200 to 2,900 baht per dish.

Medici Kitchen &Bar

Until November 30, Medici Kitchen &Bar at Bangkok's Muse Hotel is offering a special menu that includes dishes made with San Miniato white truffles and Norcia black truffles from Italy's Tuscany region.

There's a 2,800 baht set menu of truffle-enhanced dishes, though each course can be ordered à la carte as well.

Highlight dishes include white asparagus and poached organic egg with white truffle, tagliolini egg pasta in butter with white truffle and quail in rotisserie with foie gras sauce and white truffle.

La Scala

From December 2-31, the Sukhothai hotel’s La Scala restaurant will offer a selection of dishes made with Alba white truffles.

Highlights of the menu include: creamed winter chards soup with “Paolo Parisi” organic egg, parmesan crisp and truffle croutons; prime carnaroli risotto with toma piemontese and melted leek; slow-roasted grey guinea fowl with artichokes, sesame sautéed spinach, black winter truffle sauce and shaved white truffle of garlic, mushrooms and matured parmesan cheese.
