Best Bangkok rooftop bars and restaurants
With killer views and the hottest menus, these are the venues to hit when you've got someone to impress
If you've got to wine and dine a difficult-to-please guest, pop the question or seal a business deal, there's no better place to head than Bangkok's al-fresco rooftop bars and restaurants. (Just make sure they're not afraid of heights.)
Bangkok's hotels take the lead when it comes to offering sky-high quality, ambiance and views. With the exception of one, all the venues on our list of Bangkok's best alfresco rooftop bars and restaurants are hotel bound.
Boutique hotel Lebua, in the massive State Tower, has two ultra-elevated al-fresco restaurants and another pair of sky high bars on top of the city.
Sirocco serves Mediterranean cuisine on the 63rd floor while nearby Sky Bar -- standing room only -- is great for after-dinner drinks.
On the 64th floor is Distil, which is more laid back than Sky Bar and has an outdoor area with seats.
Down on the 52nd floor, Breeze is a semi open-air restaurant serving Asian-style seafood. Though not as high as Sirocco, some prefer the views from this side of the building.

Centara Grand: Red Sky
One of the newest venues on the list, Red Sky sits on the 55th floor of the Centara Grand Hotel, part of the Central World shopping complex. The 'urban bistro' menu includes mussels, steak, salmon, lobster and veal.
Though the mall was closed following the May protests that ended in arson attacks, much of the overall building was unharmed and the relatively new five-star hotel remained open. (The mall reopens at the end of this month.)

Banyan Tree: Vertigo & Moon Bar
On the roof of Bangkok’s Banyan Tree Hotel is Vertigo, which specializes in barbecued seafood, though it also grills a mean steak and has a good vegetarian menu.
Walk a few steps and you're at Moon Bar, which has a solid cocktail and wine menu and a small seating area.
The stomach-churning views at this 61st floor venue are arguably rivalled only by those at Lebua, which has sparked many a fiery debate between die-hard fans of the two hotels over the years.

Long Table is a swanky bar and restaurant that opened in 2008 and has quickly become a favorite among those in search of gourmet food and picturesque views.
Created by the minds behind Bed Supperclub, Long Table is positioned 25 floors above the city. Inside, its signature long tables (hence the name) encourage mingling and make for a communal vibe.
For al-fresco drinks, head outside onto the patio for some fabulous views of Sukhumvit and beyond.
Column Tower, 48 Sukhumvit Soi 16, 25th floor, Bangkok +66 (0)2 302 2557
The antidote to Sukhumvit Soi 11's throbbing techno music, cover charges and too many "working" women ruining your relaxing after dinner cocktails might just be found at The Nest, a small rooftop bar atop the Fenix Hotel.
Every seat in the house is comfortable, the music isn’t too loud and no one has an attitude.
It’s a place for scoping out a good spot and staying a while as there's a solid food menu too.
Once a month, The Nest hosts a MODE party that features a variety of DJs who spin everything from hip hop to house. The next MODE party is Saturday, September 11.
