British-born writer Paul Wheatley ( www.paul-wheatley.eu) first headed to Munich in 2003 with the idea of a couple of years of lingual, cultural and historical indulgence. Research for his 2010 history of the city (Munich: Monks to Modernity) was only one factor that compelled him to stay.

Paul has written about Munich as a travel destination for various publications ranging from The Guardian to Fodor’s Germany travel guide. He combines his journalism with further academic research on the city’s wonderful and woeful history.
